King Christopher the First decided to form an independent principality in the summer of 2005. Being a former TV and movie producer, he wanted to document the founding of Vikesland. He was very intrigued about the topic of micronationalism, and his main reason for creating the documentary was to introduce the topic to the public. Another reason for creating the documentary was to help declare that Vikesland was a sovereign state. Currently, Canada does not recognize Vikesland as a sovereign nation; Vikesland is merely a territory to them. Thus, the people of Vikesland are still required to follow Canadian laws and regulations. Prince Christopher I states that his goal is to be recognized by other bigger countries. However, the founding of Vikesland had been turned into a reality series, contrasting to the original plan of a documentary. Among other Micronations, this one is relatively new. They are still growing their population and resources. Since the income will come from government-run online businesses, citizens or Vikesland will never be taxed.
All laws are voted directly by the people, as this government is a democratic monarchy. There is a chancellor and vice-chancellor that are elected. They will be making important decisions with the king in the Royal Council. There is a general rule that all decisions may pass with a 2/3 vote.
