A micronation claims to exist as an independent nation, but is not recognized as a nation by international officials. They are sometimes referred to as a "model country" or a "new country project". Micronations claim an authority over a physical piece of land, distinguishing them from imaginary countries, for example. Micronations first appeared in the start of the 19th century. When the Internet was invented, it provided many oppurtunities for more Micronations to come. Sometimes, it is hard to distinguish web-based Micronations from RPGs (role playing games) or social networks. Micronations are so convinced that they exist that some create their own form of currency, stamps, passports, flags, and more. These items are often only usable exclusively in these nations. The Study of Micronations and micro states is called micropatrology. Micropatrology is studied by micronationalists, and I will be a micronationalist as well! Above are tabs of three major Micronations that I have researched.
